Nepal is a home to Gautam Buddha and getting an opportunity to teach and help Buddhist monks in the homeland of Buddha is a very unique and spiritual experience. You will be living within the monastery accommodation and teaching monks in the morning or in the afternoon depending on monasteries.
You must be patient as the monks attend regular Buddhist pujas and classes. If you are determined to teach, you must work closely with other volunteers to set up a class system that maintains student interest while accommodating frequent schedule changes. Your impression as a volunteer will entirely depend on your motivation to know the monks as individuals and learners. You will be teaching 2 to 3 hours a day. Teaching at the monastery program has partners has 20 to 40 monks in the monasteries and approximately 6 to 20 years old.
The teaching Buddhist monks volunteer program runs all year round. But, as monastery is a religious institution there will be lot’s religious ceremony and Pujas(offerings).
