The Volunteer Teaching Programme in Nepal offers a short-term, community-led opportunity
to support English learning in local schools while experiencing everyday life in Nepal.
The programme is designed for volunteers who want to contribute meaningfully, learn from
local communities, and support existing education systems.
As a volunteer, you work alongside Nepali teachers to support conversational English for
children aged 6–14. Your role focuses on assisting in classrooms, encouraging participation,
and helping students practise speaking and listening through simple, engaging activities.
Many community schools in Nepal face limited resources and large class sizes. While English
is a compulsory subject, students often have little exposure to spoken English, making it
challenging for them to build confidence and practical communication skills.
You are not replacing teachers or running programmes independently — you are adding
capacity where it’s most needed.
- Build students’ confidence in spoken English
- Increase classroom engagement and exposure to new perspectives
- Support overstretched local teachers with additional capacity
Small, consistent contributions can make a meaningful difference in a school’s
day-to-day learning environment.
