I have been in Nepal for a month and wish I could stay longer. The VCD Nepal team have filled my weeks with an exciting and rewarding combination of volunteering and travel. 

Nepal – wow. From the moment I stepped off the plane, the sensory overload began; the sights, smells, noises & everything! It is truly something you have to experience at least once in your life.

Having read many of the previous fare well letters I can only agree with the sentiments stated. However after my 3 weeks visit to Nepal, I am far too chilled on to compete with so many heartfelt super superlatives!

Before I came to Nepal  I had never been  abroad on my own before I was extremely nervous and scared at the prospect of spending 17 days alone in foreign country.

I can’t thank everyone enough for making this experience truly everything I hoped for and more. The lighthouse really become my home and you guys my family. 

I only turned eighteen nine days before flying out to Nepal – I had finished school on my birthday also, and everything moved so fast in the week between the events.

We did the cultural adventure travel experience via Frontier and had the most incredible two weeks of our lives! We wish we could stay longer in our new adopted home at the Lighthouse. Bikky and his family made us feel at home from day one.

 It’s really strange to be sitting back in Canada and writing this, because it feels like yesterday that I was browsing these blog posts and trying to picture what exactly Nepal might feel like for myself. 

From trekking and rafting to safaris and sight seeing, it has all been an amazing experience. Playing chess, relaxing at the lighthouse, drinking and going out, rafting and driving around – all the people at VCD individually made this journey amazing and it wouldn’t have been as good without you all. 

Four weeks has flown by! It still seems like yesterday when my nervous self was picked up from the airport after missing my connecting flight. What a four weeks it has been. There is so much I could talk about, I could write a novel! But I won’t bore you that much.
