Your well-being is our top priority. At VCD Nepal, we value the safety of our volunteers above all else. Our local coordinator and VCD team are dedicated to looking after you and ensuring that you stay safe, comfortable, and healthy throughout your time in Nepal. From the moment you arrive at the airport, our coordinator will be available to assist you with anything you may need. We provide a detailed orientation process as soon as you arrive in the country, ensuring that you are well-prepared for your volunteer experience.

Upon your program start date, arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). Look for a VCD Nepal coordinator holding a sign with your name, making it easy for you to spot them. They'll guide you to your accommodation, ensuring a smooth transition to your volunteer experience in Nepal.

During your first few days in Kathmandu for orientation, you'll stay with a local host family or at a nearby guest house/hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable, equipped with Western-style toilets, hot water, and free WiFi. Once your volunteer placement begins, you'll stay with local families in villages or cities, enjoying private rooms with basic furnishings. Meals, featuring Dal Bhat Tarkari, are served three times daily, with breakfast around 7 am, and lunch and dinner around 9 am and 7 pm, respectively.

In city areas, hosts provide amenities like Wi-Fi, western toilets, and hot showers. However, village hosting families may have limited facilities such as internet access, hot showers, or western toilets. Nonetheless, the village stay offers a unique, rustic experience. Participants can purchase bottled water or request filtered/boiled water.

Upon arrival, you'll undergo orientation to familiarize yourself with daily life in Nepal. You'll spend a couple of days at a host family or local hotel, meeting fellow volunteers, and adjusting after your flight. You'll have the chance to try local food and get ready for your placement. During orientation, you'll receive:

Details about your placement
Insights into teaching English in Nepal
Introduction to Nepalese cuisine
A Kathmandu city tour, including famous sites like Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple.

01 day: Arrival in Kathmandu

Your arrival in Kathmandu will be met with a warm welcome from our team at the airport, ensuring a smooth start to your journey. We'll be there to greet you, address any initial questions you may have, and promptly transfer you to your hotel for a comfortable stay.

02 day: Sightseeing + Language + Cultural Information
Explore the vibrant city of Kathmandu, taking in its rich cultural heritage. Engage in a language and cultural orientation session to familiarize yourself with local customs and traditions.

03 day: Sightseeing + Language + Cultural Information
Continue your exploration of Kathmandu, visiting iconic landmarks and immersing yourself in the local way of life. Language and cultural sessions will deepen your understanding of Nepalese customs.

04 days: Travel to Godawari for Home Stay and Cultural Exchange
Embark on a journey to Godawari for a unique home-stay experience. Immerse yourself in the daily life of a typical village, fostering cultural exchange and building connections with the local community.

05 day: Family Stay and Cultural Immersion in a Typical Village
Experience the warmth of Nepalese hospitality during a family stay. Engage in cultural activities, share meals, and participate in daily routines, gaining a deeper understanding of local traditions.

06 day: Travel back to Kathmandu
Return to Kathmandu, reflecting on your village experience. Take the evening to relax and prepare for the next phase of your journey.

07 – 20 day: Volunteering Journey Begins!
Hit the road to your volunteering placement, where you'll make a difference for the next few weeks. Get ready for an exciting week of volunteering, dedicated to creating positive change and unforgettable memories. It's time to make a difference!

20 day: Back to Kathmandu and Rest
Return to Kathmandu for a well-deserved break. Rest and recharge before continuing your volunteer efforts.

21 – 31 day: Volunteering Round 2: Resume your chosen program, make lasting connections, and witness the impact of your efforts. The journey begins—hit the road for an exciting week of positive change and unforgettable memories. It's time to make a difference!

32 day: Travel back to Kathmandu
Conclude your volunteer work and return to Kathmandu. Reflect on your experiences and the positive changes you've contributed to.

33 day: Rafting + Travel to Chitwan National Park for Wildlife Safari
Embark on an exciting rafting adventure before heading to Chitwan National Park. Prepare for a wildlife safari to encounter diverse flora and fauna.

34 day: Chitwan Safari
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Chitwan National Park, witnessing wildlife in their natural habitat. Learn about conservation efforts and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.

35 day: Breakfast and Travel to Pokhara for the Trek
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before traveling to Pokhara. Prepare for an upcoming trek amidst the stunning landscapes of the Annapurna region.

36 – 37 day: Trekking
Embark on a memorable trekking adventure, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Experience the camaraderie of fellow trekkers and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Himalayas.

38 day: Travel back from the Trekking
Conclude your trekking adventure and return to Pokhara. Reflect on the challenges and triumphs of your journey.

39 day: Sightseeing around Pokhara
Explore the enchanting city of Pokhara, known for its lakes and mountain views. Visit local attractions and unwind after the trek.

40 day: Travel back to Kathmandu
Return to Kathmandu, reminiscing about your diverse experiences in Nepal. Take the day to rest and reflect.

41 day: Choose Your Own Adventure!
It's your day to be the boss of your own journey. Whether you want to explore, shop, relax, or try something new – today is all about you! Enjoy the freedom to make your day as exciting as you want it to be.

42 day: Departure Day!
